LEGAL ENGLISH
Like all professions “our learned friends” in law have their own very special vocabulary, jargon, customs and traditions.
Biztalks.de
guides you through the terminology with tailor made “briefs” (lesson plans) from Business English CEF B1 to C1 level*
Our lesson plans are drawn from our own expertise and just like the British legal system, drawn on the “law of accretion”. We look at case law in Britain and the USA and in-house material thereby building a very strong “case” for you to partner with us, you will “approach the bench” with a high level of English competence in a legal system that is built on “the adversarial system” of “Jurisprudence”. And there “I rest my case”.
DID YOU KNOW?
Ireland, my native country, was governed by the Brehon Law
which was the body of ancient native Irish law which was generally operational in Gaelic areas until the completion of the English conquest of Ireland in the early 17th century. They were first set down on parchment in the 7th century and were named after wanderings lawyers, the Brehons. The laws, considered to be very progressive in their day, covered everything from marriage, land ownership, rights and duties etc. It is said that Irish law represents possibly the oldest surviving codified legal system in Europe.
